Chamunda derives her name from the two demons, Chanda and Munda, whom she defeated in battle. According to the Devi Mahatmya, part of the Markandeya Purana, Chamunda emerged from Goddess Durga’s forehead to annihilate these demonic forces. After slaying them, she earned the name "Chamunda," symbolizing her unparalleled strength and determination.
